Walter Elias Disney (December 5, 1901 - December 15, 1966), professionally known as Walt Disney, was an animator and producer from Chicago, Illinois. Walt Disney founded The Walt Disney Company. He played a significant role in the development of the animation industry, creating enduring characters such as Mickey Mouse and producing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), the first full-length animated feature film. Disney expanded his influence into television and theme parks, notably opening Disneyland in 1955. Over the course of his career, he received 22 Academy Awards, the most awarded to an individual. His contributions have had a lasting impact on global entertainment and popular, hip-hop culture.
