Fredo Santana
Fredo Santana (born Derrick Antonio Coleman on July 4, 1990 – January 19, 2018) was an American rapper known for his role in Chicago’s drill music scene. He was the older cousin of rapper Chief Keef and began his music career in 2011. His debut album, Trappin Ain’t Dead (2013), reached number 45 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Santana released several mixtapes, including It’s a Scary Site (2012), Fredo Kruger (2013), and It’s a Scary Site 2 (2013), featuring collaborations with artists such as Migos, Lil Durk, Lil Reese, and Soulja Boy. He also appeared in the music video for Drake’s "Hold On, We’re Going Home" in 2013. Santana was open about his struggles with drug addiction, citing childhood trauma and PTSD as contributing factors. He was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2017 and experienced multiple hospitalizations due to seizures and organ failure, linked to prolonged use of substances like Xanax and lean.
He died on January 19, 2018, in Los Angeles, California, after suffering a fatal seizure. An autopsy confirmed he had developed cardiovascular disease alongside his existing health issues. Santana was 27 years old.[1][2][3][4][5]
