Welcome to the project! As an editor, you will need to know the basics of encyclopedic editing and the basic foundations of Chicago hip-hop history (as well as hip-hop in general). This page is designed to give you the resources to get started quickly.

Create an Account

  1. Go to the homepage of this site.
  2. Click “Create account” (top right corner).
  3. Fill in the form with your desired username, password, and email address (if required).
  4. Complete the CAPTCHA or any anti-spam verification.
  5. Click “Create your account” or “Submit” to finish registration.
  6. Check your email (if email confirmation is required) and click the activation link.
  7. Log in with your new username and password.

Get Ready to WikiEdit

Start by watching this video about basic editing, which will show you how simple it can be to edit a wiki.

Next, try the random page technique described in this wiki and see how it goes. Then, complete the folloing readings related to wiki editing...

  • Read the Wikipedia guide for writing better articles. Please pay special attention to the section on style and tone.
  • Get familiar with MediaWiki Markup and the Wikitext markup language. Look at the mark-up (source code) of a couple of Wikipedipa pages.
  • Keep in mind that the project supports basic HTML, such as
