Your research visit will take place at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, entrance at 135th St and Malcolm X Blvd. The Manuscripts, Archives and Rare Books Division reading room is on the second floor of the building. Please note this division’s appointments are confirmed 2 - 6 weeks ahead of the requested appointment date. Please see our current hours listed below.

You need a New York Public Library Card to access our collections. You can apply online prior to your appointment and pick it up when you arrive. Please have identification with your name and address with you.
CHECK IN Please check in with security upon your arrival for access to the second floor. You will be required to leave all but the following with our security.
