DJ Sean Doe
Rahsaan Hawkins, professionally known as DJ Sean Doe is a disc jockey and promoter from Chicago, Illinois. He has been active in the city's hip-hop community since 2000. He is a community ambassador for the Midway documentary project, which documents the history of Chicago hip hop through firsthand accounts.
Hawkins began his career in music doing street team promotions for independent labels such as ABB Records and Stones Throw Records. His work led to a position at All Natural, Inc., an independent Chicago-based hip-hop label, where he took on A&R responsibilities and assisted with label operations. During this time, the label released projects by artists including Iomos Marad, The Primeridian, Rita J, and All Natural (Tone B. Nimble and Cap D).
Hawkins has been involved in various events across Chicago. He frequently filled in for DJ Twilight Tone during the Dance to the Drummer’s Beat beat battle series. He was also involved in promoting releases such as J Dilla’s Donuts and organizing events supporting artists like Little Brother. [1]
