Do or Die
Do or Die is an American rap trio from the East Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, consisting of N.A.R.D., Belo Zero, and AK-47. They gained mainstream success with their 1996 platinum single “Po Pimp,” which reached #22 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their debut album, Picture This (1996), was certified Platinum and helped launch the careers of both the group and featured rapper Twista.
Their second album, Headz or Tailz (1998), also achieved Platinum status and included the single “Still Po Pimpin,” which charted on the Billboard Hot 100. Throughout the early 2000s, Do or Die released several albums including Victory (2000), Back 2 the Game (2002), Pimpin’ Ain’t Dead (2003), and D.O.D. (2005), collaborating with notable artists and producers such as Kanye West, DJ Quik, and R. Kelly.
In 2006, they released Get That Paper, noted for its darker, street-oriented sound. In 2007, member Belo Zero was sentenced to prison following a shooting incident, though the group continued to produce music and tour. After reuniting, Do or Die released the collaborative EP Withdrawal with Twista in 2015, followed by Picture This II later that year. The group’s longtime collaborator Johnny P passed away in 2016.[1][2][3][4][5]
