Ice Cold

From The Chicago Hip-Hop History Project

De'Andre Hawthorne, better known by his stage name Ice Cold The Ultimate Warrior and Blaq Ice, was a rapper and poet from the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago.

Blaq Ice was a member of the group Children of Destruction, or C.O.D., which was later renamed Legion of Doom, or L.O.D. along with Traxx, Pac-Man, E.L. Radio, and J.M.D.

Blaq Ice was a driving force for the creation of the Chicago Poet Laureate and was the first hip-hop/spoken word artist to run for office. He also founded People of Extraordinary Talent, or P.O.E.T., an edutainment company with which he traveled to schools in the Chicago area.[1]
